An unexpected pregnancy is difficult to face alone. You have questions, concerns, and fears. Many difficult decisions need to be made in a short amount of time. We are here to help. Please call us to schedule an appointment.

We believe every woman who thinks she is pregnant should have an ultrasound. You may wonder why you should have an ultrasound, especially if you are considering abortion. You should have an ultrasound for three main reasons:

  • An ultrasound provides absolute confirmation of pregnancy. Home pregnancy tests do not guarantee 100% accuracy.
  • An ultrasound verifies that you have an intra-uterine, viable pregnancy. It's important to determine early on that the fetus is in the uterus and the baby has a heartbeat.
  • If you are considering abortion, an ultrasound may be able to determine if an abortion is even necessary. For example, a woman may have a positive home pregnancy test, but learn via ultrasound, that the fetus is in her fallopian tubes. In this case, a woman needs immediate medical attention.

It's also important to note that according to the New England Journal of Medicine, 10-31% of all pregnancies will naturally miscarry. A number of women who received an ultrasound prior to scheduling an abortion showed evidence of a possible miscarriage, and therefore, did not need to seek an abortion. In addition, we can provide you with critical information you will need on abortion procedures and risks associated with abortion.
